  1. You should talk about how people are families and they are not blood related like for instance adoption?

  2. What about families that aren't close and blood-related? Just an argument to keep in mind :)

  3. Don't forget to bring up the other side of family--not all families get along well and have positive bonds. If you're going to use posivite examples, I would specify by saying a close family, or a family that gets along well with one another or something.

  4. What do you mean by time consuming? Do you mean that it takes time to form that family bond with those that aren't blood related to one?

  5. Maybe add that they are role-models or positive figures in a persons life. If you don't get along with your blood family does that mean they are not family?

  6. Try to explain more about "positive bonds", like what kind of positive? And if you have a fight with somebody in your family, would that mean that they are not your "family" anymore?

  7. You might talk more about role models in the family. Does time-consuming mean spending time together? make it clear. Other than that you have great def. Keep it up!

  8. Time consuming sounds a bit negative. Perhaps you should shorten your simple definition, just because it seems like you have a lot of qualifiers. Also, you may want to consider the argument that church is a family, or something of that sort. Other than that it is a very interesting topic!

  9. You could also state that a lot of organizations that are close but opens there arms to individual would be a good example and/or the military that soldiers become like family (most of the time) haha. Just some examples that could strengthen your qualifiers.

  10. I think a family could be as large as a community or as small as just another or even just a pet. You should talk about the size of a family or the benefits of both extremes.

  11. So is a biological parent not family if they don't meet your qualifiers? Why not? Anticipate this argument!

  12. I think family could range from more than just blood related as well, which is why i love your qualifiers. I think explanations of personal experience (in 3rd person of course) would be huge in your paper. I think it would also be really cool if you decided to talk about how the idea of family may have changed over time. Good topic

  13. I understand the direction your definition is trying to go in, I believe it should be more direct though. Because the second portion of your definition can be viewed as a qualifier rather than part of the simple definition portion. I recommend that your simple definition be “Family is a group of individuals who enter one's life and make a positive bond”…while your qualifiers state not just biological, loving and supportive and self-less.

  14. I think you have a good start on you definition, but is it always positive bond? can you have negative bond and still be family. I think your definition is arguable.Family are not always a positive influence, depending on a situation. And for you qualifiers the Time consuming is something that is already known. Like I don't Know if you will be able to argue with that because its already known fact that family is a time consuming thing.

  15. I agree with Kennedy about family not being close but also blood. What about family that don't know each other and live a distance away, are they not considered family?

  16. I like all your qualifiers that will make the paper easier to right and definitely arise some arguments.

  17. your definition could be altered because to do not need to be blood related but if you are blood related they could not have a positive influence on your life. good qualifiers for support though

  18. Good job on being specific and making your definition argumentative. I like that your definition focuses on the positive view of family. Great qualifiers.
