  1. This is a hard one, but I don't think intended audience is a qualifier.

  2. I think you should include a qualifier about the intention of making one laugh in order to make sure somebody didn't just tell an awkward story and a laugh came on accident but otherwise this is a fun topic that you can get some awesome examples for to really entertain the reader!

  3. Great topic, Tim! In your definition and in my opinion, jokes are not only come from a story, it can come from other sources like a quote, an image...
And I think your qualifiers are fine.

  4. i agree with Khoa and that jokes comes in any other forms, or is that what you meant by "form" as a qualifier? Maybe "type" could be another qualifier too.

  5. In addition to your qualifiers, you could add tone and coincidence because sometimes situations can be ironic and therefore funny. I think that you have a good amount of qualifiers, though, and that they support your simple definition well.

  6. I think your qualifiers need to be more specific! They really need to narrow down your simple definition and clarify any questions against your definition

  7. I dont think you have a right qualifiers because I dont get what exactly joke is. You need to be more specific. For example, how the form of jokes should be, who is the audience, how is the body language. I think it might be a tough one for you. You might think about some things like do people make jokes just to make ohters laugh or they want to make fun of others; do jokes hurt people' feeling...

  8. Your simple definition is good. I agree with Thao, you should be more detailed on the different intended audiences a joke can be told to. This will make your paper more extended.

  9. What about intentionally telling one? Is that what you are going for? Or does it matter? Perhaps use a different word for story, depending on where you are planning to go with this story.. Good topic though!

  10. I think you have a lot of paths you can take with this topic. I like you definition because it narrows it to where it is about intentions. you could talk about casual jokes to comedy clubs.

  11. Your simple definition that "a joke is a story" ("told to make people laugh" is a qualifier), is good and arguable, but maybe a little wide. I'd go with "jokes are a fictional story!"

  12. I think this is a good definition, but you might want to explain what kind of story. Because, like we talked about last class, Beyonce eating it on stage isn't a joke but it is still a story that makes people laugh. Jokes can also be questions as well so remember that! Good job though

  13. Your qualifiers are successful in my opinion for they include different perspectives in different areas of a joke. Also, your simple definition is argumentative. Well done!

  14. I think you need more specific qualifiers so you can elaborate more in your essay.

  15. I think you need a little more specific qualifiers but i think you have a good start.

  16. I think you have a good start on your definition. I think you can talk about the different types of "jokes" what can be considered a joke and what is not. The types of jokes there are.

  17. It has to be a story? Can't be a short statement that ties into what someone else says?

  18. arguable it doe not need to be a story or make anyone laugh the audience intended for anyone, the topic is a good nice start

  19. Very good argument here! Perfect for this type of paper haha and you'll have no problem with your paper. Good job!
