Don't use "extremes" to define extremists--think of another word to describe this, such as great lengths or something. I agree with Kenny--that extremists refuse to see the opposition's viewpoints. You might also describe some of the tactics they use to persuade people.
Violence is a great qualifier for extremists! You should substitute "extreme" in your definition of extremists like "..will go to great lengths to persuade" or something along those lines.
Definitely talk more about "ways of persuasion", like what specific ways? And use another word to define "extremists" instead of "extreme" or define "extreme".
In your definition you use the word "extremes", you may have to clarify what extremes is because not everyone thinks the same things are extreme. The qualifier "ways of persuasion" is good, but it's not specific enough.
I think you could make your simple definition a little more succinct, keep in mind that you only have once sentence to put your simple definition and qualifiers into.
Interesting topic! I think you might become an extremist once you persuade all the readers. You can talk bout some extremists in reality and what they've done.
I feel like your simple definition is too detailed and may possibly be overpowering your qualifiers. Maybe do something like "People who strongly believe in something that will resort to violence if necessary to get their point across" And I'm confused a little about how 'ways of persuasion' and 'everyone is wrong' will be presented in your definition?
I recommend not using the word extreme in a definition about extremists. Also, I would go more in-depth with your qualifier of “everyone else is wrong”
i think you could also use the lack of understanding for other's points of views could be another good qualifier! cool topic though!

ReplyDeleteAnother qualifier you should think about is aggression or how pushy they can be to get what they want no matter what it takes.

ReplyDeleteYou could add in manipulation as a qualifier as well!
ReplyDeleteViolence is going to be a good argument! Because there are religious extremists that just preach their ways they aren't violent.

ReplyDeleteI think for you qualifier you should add about the war, and how extremist, such as terrorist, and how it is defined in that version??

ReplyDeleteGreat topic! You could also use what kind of age group gets the most manipulation from an extremist as one of your qualifiers

ReplyDeleteI like that you didnt use religion in the definition. It could be a great qualifer. but you could also use activists as a type of extremist.
ReplyDeleteI don't think your simple definition is arguable enough. Maybe you could define what "extremes" are rather than what an "extremist" is!

ReplyDeleteI have to agree with what they are saying about not using extreme in the def but I really like your qualifiers.
ReplyDeleteI agree with that definition i would not argue against that maybe not persuade someone to get their point across good qualifiers
ReplyDeleteVery creative topic! I think that persuading and getting their point across are pretty much the same thing though.
