I’m sure everyone who lives in Colorado has heard about the haunted third bride in Aurora. There has been so many stories to why that place is haunted; such as local high school students dying there in a car accident, a school bus of small children that crashed and killed everyone, and one of the most common story is said that an Indian massacre took place there in which settlers killed the men in battle and then returned and killed the woman and children of the tribe. People claim that once you enter into the third bridge area there will be a mist of fog even in the middle of the summer. Others claim that they would see a man floating on a horse. I’ve been told that when you check your car’s window the next morning you’ll see hand prints on your windshield. Lots of stories and rumors have been told about third bridge, but how do I know if they’re true and it’s really haunted?
I am only a believer when I see it for myself, so I decided one day to go check it out with some friends and discover for myself if the stories are true or not. We’ve been told that at 3AM it is the devil’s time and that’s when a lot of supernatural things happen, but we we’re too scared to do that so we decided to go check out third bridge around 11PM. When we got there the roads were really rocky and full of dirt. As we went deeper into the area to reach our destination, the lightings were slowly disappearing and it quickly got darker.
Not going to lie, but it was getting pretty intense because the car started fogging up out of nowhere and then it went away for a while and then came back again. So far the stories seem to be true about third bridge and that brought chills to our bones. Mid-way there I saw like a smear on the front windshield and moments later it begin to form what seems to look like a small handprint. Minutes later random smears and spots just started appearing all over the car’s windshield and moments later those spots started to form into all kinds of handprints. We haven’t even reached our destination yet and we were already seeing fog and handprints all over the car which really made us all want to pee in our pants, but we were determined to reach our destination; we made it so far already and it would’ve been a pity going back now without knowing the whole truth of third bridge.
As we were still driving down that rocky dark road; we would occasionally see a car drive past us and each and every car seem to flash their lights at us as if they’re warning us about something up ahead. Next thing you know we came across a slaughter house and a wooden cross and I remembered being told that a man had died there in the year 2010 because he had stopped to help someone with a flat tire, and was then carjacked, robbed, and murdered. So far all of these stories of third bridge are coming true and it brings chills down my spine just thinking about it.
After a long drive we finally reached our destination—third bridge. After all that has happened the fog, handprints, flashing car lights, and the wooden cross; we were way too scared to even get out of the car and explore what’s under the bridge, so we turned the car off and just sat there to see if we could hear the drums. Five minutes of silence went by, so my friend Ernesto decided to blast his car’s music up because we were told that if you are obnoxious, you will hear loud drum rolls that comes closer your way; the louder you are the closer you’ll hear it the drum rolls.
We then turned the music down to see if we could hear any drum rolls and still nothing was heard. It was getting late, so we all decided to call it a night and head back home. When Ernesto was about to turn his car back on, we heard something. Closely listening, we came to a conclusion that what we were hearing could be drum rolls and that was when we had enough and was ready to get the hell out of there! He stepped on the gas and drove as fast as he could, but being safe as well. As he was driving out of there, the fog came back and so did the handprints. Then, all of a sudden I literally saw a small animal out of nowhere with huge eyes running out of the field really fast to the other side and from my knowledge that thing couldn’t have been real.
After 20 minutes of intensity, we finally made it out of there in one piece. By far that was the scariest thing I’ve encountered. Just to make sure what we all saw that night was real; Ernesto checked his car the following morning to see if the handprints were still there and to his surprise, they were still there. We did ended up going to third bridge again the following week to see if the same thing that had happened will happen again, but the second time around we only saw the fog, but heard nothing and no handprints. After what I have encountered, I believe that third bridge is haunted and that the stories are true. Now the question is do you believe third bridge is haunted?

ReplyDeleteWow that must have been creepy! I would have peed my pants if I would have heard the drum rolls too after all that. What an artistic piece, and great creativity.
ReplyDeleteO goodness! That would freak me out to be in a situation like that, you guys are gutsy. (; I like how your story illustrated a vivid picture of how everything went down. This was the first time I have heard of the haunted third bride and I've been in Colorado all my life; it's very interesting.
ReplyDeleteI think you did a great job on making me to follow your story from the beginning to the end. The story is full with descriptive information. It makes me feel like I was actually in the car with you guys. And great job on using the facts (logos) in the first paragraph which makes the story more believable, and I think the fact that you are one of the character in the story also support that! (Credibility/Ethos)
ReplyDeleteYou did a good job of giving the reader enough background information to picture what exactly is happening. Your description of the area where this occurred is important because it shows the readers that you know what you are talking about, and that we should believe you. Many of us have heard about the haunted areas of Colorado so this proves that you are probably a credible source. You appeal to the readers very logically, using logos, and this makes you a credible, trustworthy source by your description of the house. I thought that your descriptive language also created an emotional appeal, because we could comprehend exactly what was going on.
ReplyDeleteGhost!!! Jennifer, that is so creepy. I've never heard of the third bridge before. Your story just makes me want to check it out someday. You did a great job while setting yourself as a real character in the story. It is well-organized and easy to follow.
ReplyDeleteGood story, and you gave a solid amount of details to increase the believability of the story. I think the whole story for me at least would have been more believable if you told your version of the story and then later explained the events that occurred in this area for the reader can have a better grasp on why these events occurred. However, either way it flowed very nicely and you made me want to go check this site out for myself.
ReplyDeleteOMG! That legitimately creeped me out! Now I really want to go check this out for myself! I thought the way you developed the story was great. You began by saying that it is a common myth, and that you refused to believe it until you saw it which instantly gave you credibility. The way you described the drive up there really freaked me out, because by that point in the story I trusted that what you were saying was true and not just trying to scare us. Also in the end when you talked about how you tried to go up again nothing happened, also made it seem more real to me. Great story! I really enoyed reading it!
ReplyDeleteI have heard about the deaths of Indians at Grandby Lake, the thing with a bus being killed by a trian and third bridge, which hearing it from another person only adds on to the creepyness. Ethos goes up from this too because I can relate to it and know you didn't make it up. I like how part of your personality is in the story building up credibility also, like the part where you were going to pee your pants. It'd be nice if you could describe the little hands, like were they the size of a young elementary kid hand or something.
ReplyDeleteWow! That is freaky stuff! You did a really good job at giving the reader plenty of information but at the same time keeping interesting. I liked that you were able to keep my attention throughout the entire store. Great job!
ReplyDeleteI can totally understand what you were feeling! I myself have visited third bridge, but didn't experience everything you did! For those who have never been there, you paint a perfect picture of what was going on. You start by creating a suspenseful introduction driving there, explaining the events very well. Your use of words to describe your own emotion, strengthens the use of pathos. Very descriptive story!
ReplyDeleteGreat story the information you used was helpful and readers could relate easy to it. Readers could tell what you were talking about. The setting was nice to in Colorado many people can relate to scary places here. The details were nice and emotion too I could really see whats going on great story.
ReplyDeleteTowards the last 4-5 paragraphs was when I finally got into your story. It was by no any means bad, it's just one thing that kinda bothered me was how when you described the initial road you mainly focused on how unpaved it was. You then proceeded to describe how the lightning had gradually but almost immediately disappeared when your main description didn't even mention a stormy sky. Aside from that there were a couple typos mainly "third bride" that initially confused me.
ReplyDeleteNow for the good news, since so far my review seems kinda mean, you fluctuated between present and past verb tenses which helped the audience perceive that even while you're just recounting the visit, you're still being drawn in to how frightening that evening truly was. Also your diction also fluctuated between familiar and professional which helped the me relate to your story but also see that besides those moments which really scared you, you are a credible source.
I have heard of third bridge, and I have heard of some strange things happening there. I liked the paper's appeal to logos by telling the reader that many other people have gone to check out the mysterious bridge. Also the previous stories that have happened there help appeal to the reader's sense of logos.
ReplyDeleteNice story1 It's very detailed too! the details made the story more creepy when you started talking about the handprints that were appearing and such. This makes me not want to go anywhere near Aurora anymore.
ReplyDeletePretty creepy story!! The fact that this tale happened so close to home for many really made it more believable and interesting. Now im not from here or anywhere near here for that matter, but after reading this, im not sure if i want to go to Aurora! hahah. Very good story, great job!
ReplyDeleteWeird! I have to check this out now, I live close by...but maybe not. I liked the inclusion of all the urban myths associated with the area, it gives a descriptive background that beefs up your story over all. Good job!
ReplyDeleteI like how you listed the crazy events that all occurred at the creepy bridge. It was very believable and really scary. You are brave to have gone there! The detail and organization of the story was very effective and you seemed very knowledgeable on the topic, giving it credibility. I have no doubt in my mind that this really happened. Well done.
ReplyDeleteYou did a really good job. Although I would suggest maybe giving a little more background for those who do not know what the third bride is. The story was really strengthened by pathos with the description and fear instilled in the reader. I also liked that tis story was told straight from you, you experienced it. It wasn't passed down and altered. You put some really good thought and description into your story. Great job!
ReplyDeleteYou captured the audience by relating to them, especially Colorado natives such as myself. You did lack background information on the story of the bride, for those of us who might not know the tale. The fact that you personally witnessed this event causes me to give way to the idea of the lore being fact.
ReplyDeleteGreat Story! You gave great information of a lot of different possibilities that it could actually be. Also from being from aurora I have my self personally been to third bridge and whether it was my ears messing with me because I wanted to hear something I believe that it was an indian burial ground because I thought I heard drum beats.
ReplyDeleteAhhh okay I've heard terrible things about third bridge! I refuse to go, yes I am a weenie. My friends tried to force me and I would not budge because I definitely believe it! But anyway, very relatable story and I buy it 100%. Well written and very in depth. Nice job, and I'm proud of you for going!
ReplyDeleteI totally have herd of this third of bridge, and with the whole story going on about it, I really want to go see for myself, because like I said I have a hard time believing ghost, sprite stories. Even though they freak me out I really want to go visit this place. over all I liked the way you wrote this story it was descriptive and it appealed to the logos a lot. Good Job!
